Great playthrough of BirdOnBird :)

Some good points there.. I’ll have to change a few things there.

For the chickens getting “tired” when they fly, they actually just detect when the ground is below them to stop flying. If they detect a jump pad below them they stop flying sooner just so it’s more fun to bounce off and not float back down slowly.
For 90% of development the controls were hold space to fly (alt controls in settings) but I found out it doesn’t work for some keyboards (keyboard ghosting issues) and people found it hard. So I changed it to this auto fly.

Anyway, thanks for the playthrough video, always fun to watch and learn so much from them.

Im gonna eat breakfast and watch the rest :D

Cheers! Thanks for the insight on the mechanics: I thought that something like that might be going on but I wasn't able to find the words to express it. Had a lot of fun with Bird on Bird!

Oh, and don't feel too forced to go through and watch the rest: I don't mind if devs just watch their own vids as the entire length is absolutely insane (that's why I put some importance on putting the timestamps in, after all!)

@DemisurgeX
you're the curse lol

WOWIE!!! Thanks For Playing My Game! :D
it's a huge honor for me and my game to even be here and this popular as on other websites I've published my game to, it's as dry as a desert...

but I am truly sorry that you were soft locked in level 6... that must have been a glitch caused by the ice and the icicles because I wanted the icicle to give the player suspense as it gets really close but it should not be enough to kill you but the ice speeds you up and the icicle is supposed to adjust it's fall speed for the players speed to ensure that it doesn't land on you if you're going too slow. so something must have been screwed up there. but it's interesting because that never happened to me with no fish although when I was playing and I got a fish when the icicles were on the screen then they would kill me. So I'll get to work on fixing that.

But I never realized how confusing this game can be lol. this game was made during a game jam where the theme was "Failure is Progress" and when it came to the fish the best idea I could come up with was to apply a somewhat realistic logic thing that the fish are very big so they make you fat and die and as I see now the way I executed this could've been better but I thought him getting more fat and the score color turning red would make the player understand that "hey you're not supposed to eat that" But I didn't know the score being named the score would be that confusing. Also, you're never supposed to rely on the fish and that was a mistake on my part with the level design, the fish is meant to be the main mechanic/gimmick/obstacle/whatever so I can't just remove it but I'll try my best to make it more understandable

I really appreciate you taking out the time to make a video about it as you've given me more insight into what a new player will do and the problems they might face when playing my game, thank you for all the great ideas and I will be working to fix these issues very soon!

Cheers for the insight on the game development! Haha, while I did complain about a lot about my confusion over score and fish and such, it certainly was an adventure playing the game and figuring out how everything worked: quite meta in a way, almost like a puzzle game layered on top of an endless runner. Really stood out in my memory! Anyway, I'm glad to hear that the insight helped: I really think Pingüino has some good potential, so I'm looking forward to seeing a future version of it (or anything else you work on)!

Just wanted to say I really appreciate the extra time you take to record your experiences and analyze the massive variety of game content on Newgrounds. I'm more of a casual/lurker anymore, but its also neat to see a more in depth look on not only games I might not have played, but also compare how my own experiences might be similar or different from yours.

Keep up the fantastic work, cheers!

Thank you so much for playing my game!

It was super valuable to see the playthrough and hear your feedback. ?

Quick note: The Alucard boss phases are Wiggles references.
